detour...

While taking a mini break from my dishcloth knitting I made up an I-Phone home for my most favorite possession, my phone! This fun little detour came about when I stumbled upon Julia Crossland’s post for a mobile phone holder that includes a lovely tutorial. And I have to tell ya that I switched from sticks to a hook faster than you can say…Love it...Easy, quick, and a great stash buster.  Using a 4mm hook I started with chain 22.  Cheers to a great weekend!

Dishcloths darling...

I need a dose of simple, and what could possibly be simpler than a knitted dishcloth? (Not much) The idea of mindless, repetitive knit and purl stitches that happen to produce something useful is right up my alley. Rest and relaxation is on the menu this weekend after a super busy week, which included my daughter’s birthday, my son’s graduation and a house full of visiting family. Take me away….So when I saw that the Ravelry group,  Lets Knit2gether’s June KAL happens to be dishcloths, I decided that’s for me!

Pink Pickles update...

I had the best visit with my sweet little grand-niece this week. She was gracious in modeling for me so I that could take a couple of pictures of her wearing the Pink pickles leg warmers I made for her.  I’m so happy that they fit her perfectly.  She just adores everything pink and the expression on her face when she first saw them was so heartwarming.   Want to make your own pair of Pickles?  Pattern can be found here .

Moderne Baby Blanket

I hate to admit how long it has taken me to put this crib size modern log cabin blanket together.

For some reason I experienced an on again/off again relationship with it from the start. I look back and wonder what was keeping me from whipping this one up?  Easy garter stitch rows, Painless color changes using Vanna’s Choice yarn, and a well-written pattern from Mason Dixon Knitting should have equaled a quick knit. Well it just wasn’t that way for me.  I’d knit a bit, put it down and go work on something else, over and over again.  I guess there are just some projects that don't hold my attention for very long.  I’m glad I finally forced myself to sit and complete this blanket and gift it to the sweet little baby girl that was born this week.  Ah babies, they are the best!

Big granny, little bag…

I thought it would be fun to make a granny square handbag for a little girl. My inspiration came from Angie over at not the Office Type. I found that using bulky yarn to make up a granny square creates a nice squishy 6x6 square.  Ah, the perfect size for those sweet little hands. For this bag I used up bits of Lambs pride bulky. I made two 5-round granny squares (basic gs pattern).  I then slipped stitched three sides together. For the handles I made up two I-cords and sewed them in place at the sides of each square. The garter stitch button flap was added at the top center of one square. I used a crochet flower for the button to keep with the soft look and attached it to the opposite square. I hand stitched a bit of silk together for the interior lining using the whip-stitch to tack it down. The hardest part of this easy project was finding my sewing supplies. Now that I’ve gotten them out, I really should make use of them…

Chubby Chirp, from Rebecca Danger of Danger Crafts fame, is so super cute...  You can get your copy of this free pattern over on Ravelry or at her website . It really is a very well written and easy to follow pattern. I used up a bit of left-over Cashmerino astrakhan (Debbie Bliss Yarns). I enjoyed this project so much that I must go make another.  Oh, and if you get a chance, take a look at Rebeccas’ shop over at Etsy where you can purchase one of her fun little monster patterns.
