Baby girl

Meet Rory, the newest addition to our family.  Our precious baby grand niece was born just in time for the holidays and we couldn’t be happier. Her grandma was sweet enough to send me this photo of her all snuggly in her receiving blanket.  It warms my heart to see something I’ve made being used as intended.  Joy oh joy, a new baby girl to make lovely things for.  We are so very blessed, welcome baby Rory!

Quilt progress

This has been a great weekend for working on my Beekeepers Quilt. I've got 81 sweet little hexipuffs made so far.  I can't believe how much fun I'm having with this project.  I thought I'd get bored at some point, but just the opposite. As I finish up one puff, I look forward to the next.  It is a good thing, as I've a way to go!

Little gift card pouches

This is a project I started while up at the farm. My sisters and I had fun cutting out the pattern from misc fabrics and started sewing them up. I brought mine home and just finished adding the snap closure and button detail. Plan to gift them to girls at the office. Sweet!

It was a beautiful morning for a beach walk.  November finds little in the way of crowds, unless you count these guys.

The storm has passed and the fresh sea air was invigorating. I always feel so much better once I’ve been.

Earlier this week, I was over visiting one of my favorite crochet blogs, Le monde de Sucrette and enjoyed reading Angies post and tutorial about how to create these adorable little Christmas stockings.

I’ve had great fun whipping up a few using a bit of stash yarn. The instructions are well written and very easy to follow.  Thank you Angie, once again, for your generosity in sharing the ‘how to’ for yet another awesome crochet project.  I’m off to look for embellishments. ❤ ❤ ❤

A visit to the farm

I’ve just returned from a wonderful trip to my sister and her husband’s farm appropriately named, Wind and View, located up in NE Washington.  It was so much fun to walk the grounds with the dogs, feel the cool fresh air on my cheeks and check out all that had changed since my last visit.

Baby chicks, a new Llama and a pantry full of canned goods were some of the delights I was able to enjoy.

My sisters, Diana and Donna (twins) were celebrating their 50th birthday and we spent four glorious days hanging out and enjoying each others company which also included two nieces, a nephew and a brother in law.  One thing that I really love about farm life is the pace, a much slower pace than the city life I’m used to and it does take some getting used to. There is always something to tend to, and all is taken care of in its due time. Wood to cut, animals to feed, dahlias to pull up and put into cold storage, the list goes on. We spent late afternoons watching the seemingly endless sunset from a large picture window while knitting and sipping tea.

Did I mention the food?  We ate plenty from the garden, fresh eggs and yummy homemade pies.  I left feeling the effects that rest and time spent in good company can afford.  I’m already looking forward to my return come springtime.
